New evidence in Alyssa Davis street racing case delays plea

There's been a delay in the case of a young womancharged in the death of Alyssa Davis, the 17-year-old killed in a car crash inConception Bay South in 2015.

In court on Tuesday, the Crown said new evidence came forward in the last few days that needs to be examined by the police.

The young woman was expected to enter a plea but both defence and Crown attorneys agreed to thedelay while the new information is investigated.

She can't beidentified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She was 17 when she crashed the car Davis was riding in, killing Davis.

The young woman is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing deathas well as dangerous operation ofa motor vehicle while street racing causing death.

Another young offenderwas originally charged with street racing in Davis's death but pleaded guilty to dangerous driving instead.
