Princess Anne's tour to focus on Beaumont-Hamel, community events

HRH The Princess RoyalPrincess Anne is making several stops around Newfoundland this week as part of a royal visit to the province.

Anne will make public visits to Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook, The Rooms and the National War Memorial in St. John's between June 29 to July 1.

  • On Wednesday morning, Princess Anne will unveil a plaque at Grenfell Campus. The ceremony will officially open the Danger Tree and soldier exhibit, a commemoration of soldiers who were killed at the Battle of the Somme. The event begins at 11:40 a.m.
  • At 1:30 p.m Wednesday, Anne will take part in a royal inspection of the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. She will also present new colours to the Battalion.
  • On Thursday at 9:15 a.m., Anne will present Duke of Edinburgh gold certificates at the CLB Armoury to 100 youth who took part in the development program named after her father.
  • The Princess will lay a wreath during the annual memorial day ceremonies at the National War Memorial in St. John's on July 1. The event starts at 11 a.m.
  • Anne will participate in a second inspection of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment's troops on Friday afternoon. The event takes place at The Rooms in St. John's, along with the opening of the museum's new courtyard.

In addition to the public visits, Princess Anne will also make a number of private stops, including a visit to the Rainbow Riders Therapeutic Riding Centre, a tour of the HMCS St. John's, and a wreath-laying at Mount Pleasant.
