Gas prices drop by 2 cents in latest PUB adjustment

The Public Utilities Board decreased the maximum price of gas by 2.3 cents on Thursday.

The maximum price of gas dropped a couple of cents onThursday across Newfoundland and Labrador.

In its weekly price adjustment, the Public Utilities Board decreased the ceiling on all grades of gas by2.3 cents per litre.

In Newfoundland, prices vary depending on location, and now range between $1.76 and $1.93 per litre. In Labrador, they are between $1.64 and $2.19.

Diesel decreased by as much as3.8 cents a litre on the island and up to 4.6 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. The change puts maximum prices between $1.76 and $1.87 in Newfoundland and between $1.87 and $2.58 per litre in Labrador.

The price of furnace oil also decreased on Thursday by 3.27 cents per litre, meaning customers in Newfoundland will pay a maximum of between $1.11 and $1.27 per litre depending on their location.

The price of stove oil decreased by the same amount in Newfoundland, but decreased by 4.16 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. That means maximum prices now range between $1.16 and $1.33 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.23 and $1.94 per litre in Labrador.

Propane decreased by 0.1 cents per litre, putting maximum prices between 95 cents and $1.07 per litre in Newfoundland and between 82 cents and $1.16 per litre in Labrador.
