The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was scouring a remote road in St. John's Thursday for a woman reported missing earlier this summer.

Ann Marie Shirran has not been seen in public for almost a month.

Ann Marie Shirran, 32, was last seen July 18 at her home on a suburban street in the Kilbride area of St. John's.

The RNC confirmed that its mounted unit was conducting a ground search on Blackhead Road, which is to the east of Shirran's neighbourhood.

As well, the force's marine unit was in the waters off the coast, which is near Cape Spear.

A ground search was launched in the days after Shirran was last seen in wooded areas and ponds near her home, as well as the Bowring Park area. However, it was suspended.

The RNC had said it had received a tip that Shirran, who formerly lived in Steady Brook and had been known as Ann Baggs, was seen on Newfoundland's west coast. The tip, however, did not pan out.
