One man dead after head-on crash on TCH near Clarenville

A crash involving a car and a gravel truck on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Clarenville on Friday killed one man and sent another person to hospital, the RCMP said.

A head-on crash involving a car and a gravel truck on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Clarenville, N.L. on Friday killed one man and sent another person to hospital, says the RCMP.

Police say the crash happened shortly before 1:45 p.m. NT. Friday afternoonabout six kilometres west ofClarenville.

The 53-year-old man, who was the driver of the car,was ejected from the vehiclefrom the force of the collision anddied atthe scene, the RCMP said in a news release.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was sent to the hospital in Clarenville.

The RCMP says the investigation is continuing with help fromthe Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
