Karwood Homes owner Greg Hussey speaks about the theft of several windows from homes under construction

Residential development company Karwood Homes has had several windows stolen straight from new homes under construction.

President Greg Hussey posted on social media that a "pile of windows" had beentaken from four new homes on Saffron Street in Paradise.

Hussey said the thiefor thieves left blood behind at the scene.

"Obviously one of thepeople who were taking out the windows cut themselves, and there is blood stains all over the siding and a few of the windows that are still left in," Hussey told CBC News.

Grey Hussey posted a photo of one of the remaining windows that the culprits did not steal. (Twitter)

"So we got some samples of that and hopefully that will help us find who did this."

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said it received a complaint about the stolen windows, and believes the theft happened between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

Having stolen property is a crime

One of the homes sustained damage during the theft, Const. Geoff Higdon said.

Hussey suspects that a pick axe and shovel were used to take the windows out, because both items were lying on the ground when workers showed up Thursday morning.

The RNC hasreminded the public that it's a crime to be in possession of the stolen windows.

From Hussey's prospective, whoever buys his stolen windows are just as guilty as the person or people who committed the theft.

"All this material goes somewhere, so someone has to be buying stolen material for a renovation or a new house," he said.

Husseysaid this theft is a first for him, and he suspects the total loss to be between $10,000 to $15,000.

A reward is being offered for anyone who has information on who stole the items, or who is buying the stolen goods.
