Advisory committee to appoint new commissioner of Nunavut

Charlie Evalik and Mike Shouldice will serve as temporary members on the advisory committee that will help select the next commissioner of Nunavut, the prime minister announced on Tuesday.

Charlie Evalik and Mike Shouldice will serve as temporary members on the advisory committee that will help select the next commissioner of Nunavut, the prime minister announced on Tuesday.

The term for the current commissioner of Nunavut, Edna Elias, ends on May 12.

The advisory committee will come up a short list of possible candidates that will be forwarded to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Evalik is a former president of the Kitikmeot Inuit Association and current chair of the board of the Nunavut Resources Corporation, and Shouldice is a former president of Nunavut Arctic College.

The committee is also made up of three permanent members: Kevin MacLeod, Robert Watt and Jacques Monet.
