Arctic Bay photographer a finalist in international contest

An Arctic Bay photographer is a finalist in an international photography contest for his portrait of the community's eldest elder.

An Arctic Bay photographer is a finalistin an international photography contest for his portrait of the community's eldest elder.

Clare Kines's picture of elder Qapik Attagutsiakwas one of 90 finalists recognized in the Global Arctic Awards International Photography Competition.

"She's one of my favourite people," Kines says. "The picture turned out well, plus it tells a storyabout an aspect of her life."

The contest features work from photographers from 34 countries.

Kines' photo will be featured in an exhibit in Moscow in April.
