Arviat man walks for transplants

Jackson Tagak Kablutsiak, who was the recipient of a donated kidney, walked more than 100 km to raise awareness and support for the Canadian Kidney Foundation.

A kidney transplant recipient in Arviat, Nunavut, recently walked 112kilometresto raise awareness and money for kidney disease.

It took Jackson Tagak Kablutsiak four days to trek the distance from Arviat towards MaguseLake. He wasaccompanied by two of his closest friends and his grandmother's dog, Fye Fye.

Kablutsiakwas the first and so far the only person from Arviat to ever to go through a kidney transplant.

He arrived back in ArviatThursdayafternoon to hundreds of residents welcoming him.

All proceeds from his fundraising will goto the CanadianKidney Foundation.

His story will air next Tuesday on Igalaaq and Northbeat.
