Brandy Vittrekwa beaten after spurning killer's advances, Yukon court hears

Lawyers have submitted an agreed statement of facts surrounding the 2014 death of Brandy Vittrekwa.

A 15-year-old boy beat Whitehorse teen BrandyVittrekwa to death after sherejected his romantic advances, according to an agreed statement of facts filed in court this week.

The boy, whocannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act,has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in her death.

According to theagreed statement of facts, the two had been drinking at a party inDecember2014, whenthe boy tried to kiss Vittrekwa. She wasn't interested and shrugged himoff, court heard.

Later that night, the boy severely beat Vittrekwa while they walkedhome.

Her body was found the next day, on a walking trail in the McIntyre subdivision. An autopsy found she had suffered blunt force trauma to the headand neck.

Prosecutors have applied to have Vittrekwa's killersentenced as an adult.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May.
