Dangerous situation in Clyde River resolved, RCMP say

Nunavut RCMPsay a dangerous situation in Clyde River, Nunavut, has been resolved peacefully.

On man was taken into custody after what police described as a "lengthy period of negotiation."

Earlier Tuesday, RCMPsaid they were involvedin a dangerous situation in Clyde Riverinvolving abarricaded individual.

"For the safety of persons in the community, RCMP are asking residents to remain away from the area of the 516D five-plex," a news release issued just before 5 p.m. local time said.

The building was evacuated, andRCMP asked residents in the neighbouring area to find shelter and stay indoors.

The hamlet of Clyde River has a population of about 1,000 people.
