A woman in Fort Resolution, N.W.T., is calling for an RCMP officer to be removed from the communityafter he allegedly elbowed her 71-year-old motherin the face.

RCMP are investigatingthe Sept. 20 incident, but not naming the officer.

Margo Edjericonsays an officer elbowed her mother in the face and pinnedher against the wall when two officers came intothe house looking for a young woman.

Edjericon wants to know why the officer isstill working in the community.

We asked and there's still nothing being done, she says. I know some people are working on the other end. I'm hoping that they get back to me this week and find out why this cop is still working in our community or anywhere until this is all settled."

Edjericonsays she told the two officers thatthe person they were looking for was in the house but was sleeping and she told them to come back later.

She says officers from Yellowknife were at her house yesterday questioning her and her mother.

Edjericon says they asked her mother to sign a form to release her medical records.

She says they also interviewed her mother alone, andthat's a problem because her mother is hard of hearing.
