Dawson City's boil water order lifted

The Yukon government has lifted a boil water advisory for Dawson City that had been in effect all week.

Pat Living, a spokesperson for Yukon's health department, says the two wells that provide drinking water to the town have tested clear of contamination.

"Water results for the current supply wells, PW-1 and PW-2, and samples from the distribution system, have tested free of any bacterial indicators," she said.

The boil water advisory was issued on Monday. The town had to release raw sewage into the river because of a problem with the system and some of the sewage seeped into a back-up well.

Living says the back-up well is not being used.
