Fire damages Igloolik office building

An office building in Igloolikcaught fire sometime around 6 a.m. Thursday.

Assistant senior administrative officer CelestinoUyarak says the building housed the income support office, and thehamlet's probation officer and governmentliaisonofficer also worked there.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire.

Uyarak says thebuilding is a "total loss"

"We're not sure how this fire started," Uyarak said. "Right now it's under the investigation of local RCMP and the fire department, and hopefully in the next couple of days we'll be able to determine how this fire started."
