A new photo exhibit in Yellowknife called Flesh & Bone features female nudes and animal skulls.

It's the first hometown show for local photographer Angela Gzowski.

Gzowski says the nudes were shot with the models holding bison and caribou skulls to their face. Some of the images are multiple exposures to create movement.

The idea, Gzowski says, came from a love of taxidermy growing up, her family always had skulls in their home. She says she also loves photographing the female figure, so she decided to combine the two. Gzowksi says it was surprisingly easy to find female models.

The show will also feature a selection of images from across the North. The event gets underway Saturday at 7 p.m. at Yellowknife's Champagne Room.
