1 person occupied helicopter that crashed in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T.

One person was occupying the helicopter that crashed in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T. on Friday, according to fire information officer Mike Westwick.

"This is an emerging situation, andwe are unable to confirm any additional details at this time," he wrote in 2 p.m. news release, adding the the N.W.T. RCMP and the Transportation Board of Canada are responding to the incident.

On Friday, N.W.T. Fire confirmed that the helicopter which crashed was involved in the response to the wildfire threatening the community.

The incident happened at the Fort Good Hope airport and involved a Bell Textron B212 helicopter, operated by Yellowknife-based Great Slave Helicopters, said the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) in a statement Friday evening.

The TSB said it will be deploying a team of investigators.

Fort Good Hope has been under an evacuation order since June 15 as a wildfire continues to burn on the community's doorstep. Crews, including air tankers and helicopters, are still working to fight that fire.

As of the latest update, that fire spanned6,285 hectares.
