Gas prices in Whitehorse dip to 99.9 cents/litre

Few things make Yukon drivers as happy as when gas prices drop, as they did in Whitehorse over the weekend.

Gas prices dropped in Whitehorse over the weekend.

At some stations in the city, drivers are able tofuel up for 99.9cents/litre.That's the lowest prices have been in the city since January.

That matches the gas pricein Watson Lake, Yukon which dropped to 99.9 cents/litre a couple of weeks ago.Gas prices in other Yukon communities have yet to drop. Fuel at one service station in Dawson was 139.9 cents on Sunday while gas in Carmacks was 114.9 cents.

Meanwhile, gas prices in Yellowknife hover at about 110 cents and in Edmonton, pump prices arein the79 cents range.

In Nunavut, residents are still waiting to hear from the territorial governmenthow much they will pay for fuel in the new year, as it is purchased in bulk each summer by the territory.

  • An earlier version of this story stated that Whitehorse was the only Yukon community where the price of gas had dropped to 99.9 cents/litre. In fact, it has been at the price in Watson Lake for a couple of weeks.
