Iqaluit thieves steal potentially lethal veterinary drugs

A safe containing drugs that are potentially deadly to humans has been stolen from an Iqaluit veterinary clinic, say RCMP.

Police concerned people may try to use them or sell them

A safe containing drugs that are potentially deadlyto humans has beenstolen from an Iqaluit veterinary clinic, say RCMP.

The safe, as well as some money,was taken during a break and enter at the clinic over the weekend.

"We'd like to make the public aware that this is out in the public somewhere," saidSgt. Yvonne Niego, spokesperson for Nunavut RCMP.

Sheaddedthat police are concerned the people who stole the drugsmay try to sell themor use the drugs themselves.

"I believe there were several [drugs] werecommon to veterinary clinics," she said.

Those medications are meant for animals andcould be lethal if usedby people, police say.
