MAP: Nunavut water licence inspections

Map showing Nunavut communities that did not comply with federal law or have current water licences when federal inspections took place in 2010.

Federal water-use inspection reports obtained by CBC News show landfills and sewagelagoons at 20 of Nunavut's 25 communities are not complying with federal law or are operating without a current water licence.

In the reports, which were filed in the summer and fall of 2010, federal inspectors raised serious environmental and human health concerns related to some municipal dumps and lagoons.
