Woman killed in Second Avenue crash ID'd as Margaret Johnson

Margaret Kathleen Johnson died Tuesday night after being struck by a pickup truck in downtown Whitehorse.

71-year-old was travelling by wheelchair when she was struck and killed by pickup truck

Yukon's chief coroner has named the woman who died Tuesday night after being struck by a pickup truck in downtown Whitehorse.

Margaret Kathleen Johnson, 71, wasoperating a motorized wheelchair along Second Avenue near Strickland Street at about 6:30 p.m. when she was hitby a Ford Ranger truck.

Johnson was taken toWhitehorse General Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.

The Yukon Coroner's Service says the investigation into Johnson's death is ongoing.

The driver of the truck is a 72-year-old woman. RCMPhave not released details aboutthe cause of the accident, or if any charges will be laid.
