Mini cabinet shuffle in Nunavut

Nunavut Premier Paul Okalik announcedMonday several changes tohis cabinet.

Finance Minister David Simailak is taking on an additional portfolio and will now be responsible for the Department of Economic Development and Transportation.

The department was previously part of Olayuk Akesuk's portfolio. Akesuk will continue to be responsible for the Nunavut Housing Corporation.

The shuffle also gives Simailak responsibility for the Nunavut Development Corporation and Nunavut Business Credit Corporation.

The changes will increase financial accountability over government expenditures in the department, the premier said in a release.

The premier declined to comment on the changes.
