Man, 50, dead after explosion Thursday in Iqaluit neighbourhood

Two other men were injured as a result of the blast on Thursday afternoon. A boat was also damaged.

A fifty-year-old manhas died as the result of an explosion that occurred between twohomes onBen Ell Drive in Iqaluit at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Two other men, 57and 26, were injured in the blast and have been medevacedsouth for treatment. The RCMPsay they are bothin stable condition.

No foul play is suspected in the explosion that also damaged a boat. The office of the Chief Coroner has determined the death to be accidental.

RCMPhave handed the investigation off to the coroner and the Workers'Safety and Compensation Commission, who will continue to investigate.

It's unknown what caused the explosion.
