Searchers find body of missing man, foul play ruled out

The RCMP say volunteer search crews have found the body of a missing Fort Simpson man near the North Nahanni River in the Northwest Territories.

David Horesay was found deep in the bush on Monday, nearly four kilometres from the cabin he was staying in.

The 60-year-old man was last seen June 12 at the camp located 125 kilometres from Fort Simpson. He was with Frederick Hardisty, who is still missing.

The RCMP say Horesay's body was found intact and that foul play is not suspected.

"It will give us a cause of death and it will give us some closure to actually answer some of these questions that have been unanswered for the last seven to 10 days," said Fort Simpson RCMP Corporal Al Sheppard.

"The community right now is in the state of shock and mourning, of course. They would like to have the second individual found to provide some closure," said Sheppard.

Horesay's body will be flown to Edmonton on Wednesday for an autopsy.

Sheppard says the area was searched several times before the body was found.

But he says the bush was so thick they missed the body.

Search crews are now out in larger numbers, looking for Hardisty.
