Man killed after hitting moose on Alaska Highway in Whitehorse

Yukon's coroner says a manwas killed on the weekendwhenhe hit a moose with his vehicle while driving on the Alaska Highway in Whitehorse.

Yukon's coroner says a manwas killed on the weekendwhenhe hit a moose with his vehicle while driving on the Alaska Highway in Whitehorse.

In a news release on Tuesday, the Yukon Coroner Service says Bart Hollinger, 67, was heading south on the highway near the Cowley Creek subdivision when the collision happened early Saturday morning.

Conservation officers had been called to the area after an injured moose was seen near the highway. Hollinger's damaged Ford Taurus was then found in the trees nearby.

Hollinger was found dead near the vehicle.

"Evidence confirmed that the vehicle had been in a collision with a moose," the release states.
