Man caught smoking on Yellowknife-bound flight charged with trafficking cocaine

RCMP seized 300 grams of crack cocaine at the Yellowknife airport on Sunday after responding to a call about a passenger smoking in the bathroom on an inbound flight.

RCMP seized 300 grams of crack cocaine at the Yellowknife airport on Sunday after responding to a call about a passenger smokingin the bathroom on an inbound flight.

RCMP saidin a news release that they received a request for assistance from the Yellowknife airport tower at about 10:30 Sunday night, regarding an Air Canada flight from Calgary.

"Through subsequent investigation, approximately 300 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia were seized," the statement said.

Robert Zukowsky, 38, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine andbreach of probation.

He's also been charged under theCanadian Aviation Regulations Act for smoking in an aircraft lavatory.

Insp. Matt Peggstold CBCit's not a charge the Yellowknife RCMPoftenlays.

Zukowsky is in custody and due in court on Thursday.

RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
