Narcotics resembling ibuprofen seized by RCMP

RCMP are warning Yukoners to be wary of white, unmarked pills that could be circulating illegally.

One pill seized by RCMP appeared to be disintegrating or not fully formed, which police say is often an indicator of counterfeit or unlicensed pharmaceutical product. (Yukon RCMP)

White pills resembling over-the-counter medications but containing narcotics could be circulating in the territory, warn Yukon RCMP.

The unmarked pillswere found in a bottle of medication and tested positive for trace amounts of cocaine, RCMP Staff Sgt. Jane Boissonneaultsaid.

Thepills have now been sent for a full toxicology analysis.

Police saidthe pills looksimilar over-the-counter drugs like ibuprofen and Tylenol, but without a name or dosage information.

RCMPare warning Yukon residents not to take medicationunless it has been specifically prescribed by a doctor.

They're asking people to take any unmarked or suspicious pills to the local pharmacy.

Police did not say where the pills were found, or when the toxicology results will be back.
