Between the city fireworks display and private launchings outside of Whitehorse boundaries, there will be no shortage of fireworks lighting up the sky tonight.

Tonight is a good timeto keep the pets inside because if the sky is clear, the "shrills"and "bangs" of fireworks displays will belighting up the skyin and around Whitehorse.

Chuck Ward ofSkyblaster Fireworks, located outside Whitehorse on the Mayo Road, sayssales have been good this year and he might run out of somefireworks kits.

He saysmost of his customers drop a couple of hundred dollars in his shop andsome spend up to $600 on 10 to 12 items.

Ward also sells fireworks to communities, likePellyCrossing. For $3,000, Pelly'sshow will have "45 minutes of constant bang," he says.

Consumer fireworks are prohibited within Whitehorse city limits, but outside the boundaries,it'sanyone's sky.

Eric von Flotow used to buy consumer fireworks in Haines, Alaska, but it's now illegal to bring fireworks across the border without an importpermit. He bought his first batch from Skyblaster last year.

"It was a big hit," he said as he perused Ward's offerings Wednesday.
