Yukon lottery winners pick up their cheque

Yukon's newest millionaires picked up their cheque this week.

The group of eightco-workers who hit it big on the Nov.1Lotto Max drawwill share half of the $50 million total prize.The other half of the prize went to one winner in B.C.

The Yukon group includes Glenda Benoit, Jovita Murphy, Shelley Shaw, Krista Pickett, Ron Meers and Craig McKinnon ofFaro, Tracey Parkin from Ross River and Sukie Sidhu of Whitehorse.

Each member of the group will receive about $3.12million.

Some members of the group had previously said they will continue to work with the Faro Mine Remediation Project. But, when picking up the cheque, McKinnontold the Western Canada Lottery Corporation I want to golf til I die."

The lottery corporation says theFaro groups winis the largest lottery prize ever won on a ticket purchased in Yukon. The previous record win wasa $1 million Set For Life prize won by a Whitehorse resident in September 2005.
