Zama spill site shows brown trees, 3 containment sites

Apache Canada is still cleaning up a massive waste water site in northern Alberta, 18 days after the spill was first reported.

The spill leaked 9.5 million litres of contaminated water from oil production into an area near Zama City, Alta., which is near the N.W.T. border.

CBC News got a birds eye view of the site, which is located in a landscape with several pipelines, right of ways for pipelines, as well as trap lines.

Brown trees are clearly visible all around the spill site. There is also a white cover over a large area of ground at one of the containment sites.

On Monday, a meeting was held with the Dene Tha First Nation, Apache, and the Alberta Environment Resources Conservation Board. No one from the First Nation was available to speak on Tuesday.
