Accused navy spy denied bail

A Canadian naval intelligence officer accused of passing on secretsremains in custody after a judge denied him bail.

Sub-Lt. Jeffrey Paul Delisleheard thedecisionFriday in Halifax provincial court.

Judge Barbara Beach had heard evidence from three defence witnesses and one witness for the Crown on Wednesday, but she delayed her ruling until Friday.

No details can be shared becauseof a publication ban in the case.

Delisle, 41, faces two charges of violating a section of the Security of Information Act and one charge of breach of trust under the Criminal Code.

He is accused of passing secrets to a foreign entity or terrorist group sometime between July 2007 and Jan. 13 of this year.

His last posting was at Trinity, a high-security naval intelligence facility in Halifax.

Delislehasbeen in jail since his arrest on Jan. 14. He is due back in court on May 8.
