Bedford shooting victim facing weapons charges

A 29-year-old man who survived a shooting in Bedford, N.S., on Sunday is facing weapons charges.

Police find unsecured firearm during search of victim's home

A 29-year-old man who survived a shooting in Bedford, N.S., on Sunday is facing weapons charges, say Halifax Regional Police.

Police were called to a shooting at a home in Bedford at 5:24 a.m. on Sunday. They found the victim, whowas taken to the QEII Health Sciences Centre, treated and released Sunday afternoon.

Police say as part of the investigation, they got a search warrant for the victim's home on Redden Court wherethey found evidence he had been shot in the home.

Police also found an "unsecured" firearm, meaning the weapon was not safely stored. Inaddition tothe gun, police found cash and drugparaphernalia.

No suspects in the shooting itself have been arrested.

Halifax Regional PoliceConst. Phil Power said there's no evidence the Bedford shooting and theShakur Oshay Trevez Jefferieshomicideon Saturday are connected.

"We do not believe at this point in time they are connected, we do believe they are two separate incidents," said Power.
