A court in Maine has fined the U.S. affiliate of Nova Scotia's Oxford Frozen Foods $56 million for price-fixing.

A court in Maine has fined the U.S. affiliate of Nova Scotia's Oxford Frozen Foods $56 million for price-fixing.

Five hundred blueberry growers in that state filed and won a class-action lawsuit against Cherryfield Foods and two other processors.

Officials of Oxford Frozen Foods are not commenting on the case. The blueberry empire owned by Nova Scotia's John Bragg controls Cherryfield.

Oxford Frozen Foods and the other processors plan to appeal the verdict to the Supreme Court of Maine.
