A boil-water advisory for some residents of Middle Musquodoboit, N.S., will likely last a couple of days, says a Halifax Water spokesperson.

While a Saturday water main break on Higginsville Road was repaired Sunday morning, officials are recommending residents continue to boil water.

"It usually takes a couple of days of testing in order for us to give the go ahead to lift the boil-water advisory," said spokesperson Jeff Myrick."This is precautionary but in the meantime water will be available for everything but drinking."

The testing looks at things such as bacteria levels, he said.

Myrick said around 100 customers are affected by the boil-water advisory.

In a news release, the utility said customers may experience discoloured water because of the repair. Customers should run the cold water at one faucet until the water runs clear.

When people need to consume water, such asby drinking it or washing fruitand vegetables, Halifax Water recommends customers boilthe water for at least one minute.
