Students suspended from Bridgewater junior high after principal learns of images

A number of students have been suspended from Bridgewater Junior Senior High School as police investigate what they're describing as "questionable images on electronic devices."

Bridgewaterpolice were called to the school this morning by the principal.

The superintendent for the South Shore Regional School Board, Geoff Cainen, said the principal started her own investigation last week.

Cainen said the issue was proving to be a distraction to students and disrupting the learning process so she suspended some students. Cainen couldn't say how many, or for how long.

Cainen said no one from the school board has seen the pictures. Hesaid students started coming forward late Friday and Tuesday to talk about their involvement in this case.

"This, sadly, is a teachable moment," Cainensaid.

All police are saying is that the matter is under active investigation.

The school is attached to Bridgewater High School and the combined school is home to some 500 students.
