Bryony House home lottery winners not moving into house

The winners of the Bryony House Dare to Dream Home Lottery won't be moving into the five-bedroom luxury home.

That's because they've sold the home back to the original owner, Jacques Martin. His wife, Kris,sold it to Bryony House for the charity's lottery.

Kris previously told CBC News she approached the winners about purchasing the home the day they viewed it after their win.

It isn't clear how much the home was sold for on both occasions. Due to contractual reasons, Bryony House wouldn't say how much it paid for the house.

The home on Willowhill Ridge in Waverleywas billed as a $1.2 million dream home and has an assessed value of about $790,000.

The lottery was an idea conceived and runby Kris and her friend Maria Sancho.

When contacted Wednesday by CBC News for an interview, Kris said she was feeling sick.

The Bryony House lottery did not run as smoothly as planned. In September, the idea of awarding a cash prize of $600,000 rather than the home was floated.

Only about 24,000 tickets for the lottery were sold, well short of the 60,000 goal.

Bryony House executive director Laurie Ehler says the charity won't make any money at all and expects to just break even.
