Cape Breton road deemed worst in Atlantic Canada, again

There's nothing better than coming in first unless you live on Gillis Point Road in Washabuck Centrewhere residents are once againclaiming the number one spotin CAA'sworst roads in Atlantic Canada list.

Last year, a branch of the Nova Scotiaroad GillisPoint East claimed the top spot.

The list is compiled in an online vote. This year, more than 4,000 votes were submitted.

Nova Scotia landed three of the top 10, while Prince Edward Island's roadsescaped the moniker entirely.

New Brunswick's Charters Settlement Road landed in second place, and the province had the most mentions with four overall. Newfoundland and Labrador filled the remaining three places.

In a statement, Gary Howard, a vice president with CAA, says the contest is valuable because it is a public way to identify poor driving conditions. The company also flags the list to governments in an effort to help with priorities as repair work is done.
