Man accused of murder in Shakur Jefferies shooting out on $100K bail

Carvel Clayton, the man accused ofsecond-degree murder in the death of Shakur Jefferies, has been released on $100,000 bail.

Jeffries's body was discovered nearan apartment building on Washmill Lake drive in Halifax last November after a shooting.

On Monday, Nova Scotia Supreme Court Justice Patrick Duncan released Clayton on certain conditions, including that he remain at a specific residence in Halifaxunless escorted by court-approved chaperonesto meet with his lawyer or doctor.

He's not to be in possession of firearms and is not allowed within 50 metresof the building where Jefferies was found.

Clayton has two sureties who have put up a$100,000 bond.

There is a publication ban on the bail hearing.

Clayton was taken directly to a probation office in Spryfieldfollowing the bail decision to receive a GPS bracelet that will monitor his location. He's due back in court on June 19.
