This month, CBC's Do Crew will help an organization called Ark that has been running a drop-in centre in north-end Halifax for homeless youth for 16 years.

It's a place where 16- to 24-year-olds can drop by, have a meal, take a shower, do some laundry, use a computer, play music, as well as build strong community ties.

Ark also runs a Sunday Supper. Every week, they serve a hot meal to between 200 and 250 people. That's been happening for decades.

Ark is solely financed by donations and its big annual fundraiser is the Coldest Night of the Year walk. This year, it takes place on Saturday, Feb. 20. It will also take place in more than 90 cities across Canada on the same day.

The Do Crew will be volunteering as route marshals during the walk, making sure walkers are safe and heading the right way, and encouraging them to keep going.
