Star Wars election sign, 'Elect Yoda,' goes missing

Either someone is in the employ of a Sith Lord or there was a disturbance in the Force Friday night because Halifaxs only sign for the Elect Yoda campaign has gone missing.

Actor, campaign creator Jeremy Webb says the sign was taken Saturday morning between 12 a.m. - 7 a.m.

Either someone is in the employ of a Sith Lord or there was a disturbance in the Force overnight Friday because Halifax'sonly sign for the Elect Yoda campaign has gone missing.

In early September, Halifax actor Jeremy Webb spent $60 to create the sign to encouragepeople to vote in the upcoming federal election. He nailed the sign on a tree near his house.

"I got back from doing a show at Neptune Theatre last night at about midnightand it was in the wee hours of the morning [it was stolen]," he said.

Neighbours didn't see anything, said Webb, who noticed it missing at 7 a.m. Saturday. And even though he spent his own money to start the campaign which was shared extensively on social media and Buzzfeed he won't be contacting the police.

"I'm not going to bother the police with it, because I think they'll either just laugh at me or arrest me," joked Webb.

Webb says he wonders ifthe signturn up if the culpritmistakenly posts a picture of it to their own Twitter and Facebook. But he's not holding out for a new hope.

"What I'm hoping is that some young person has taken it as a reminder that at election time, in a few weeks time, they're going to have the biggest prompt when they wake up and find that Yoda sign sitting on their bedroom wall. So, if it's getting one person to vote, then it was worth the 60 bucks it cost to get it printed."

The voting campaign may have been limited to one sign, but it lives on a Facebook page Webb created.

Ideas for future lawn gags are being considered.

"I'm thinking maybe I should move on to an inflatable Yoda for my front lawn, holding a sign saying 'Vote You Must' so, we'll see."
