Fed up premier lashes out at opponents

Premier Darrell Dexter is accusing Nova Scotia's opposition parties of driving business away from the province with their attacks on the NDP's numerous deals with big businesses, most recently with IBM.

Dexter said those kinds of attacks have consequences.

"What they are telling the employers is, 'We don't need your jobs. We don't need the tax revenue. Please go somewhere else.' Some of the things that have been said is just way beyond the pale," he said.

Dexter pointed to a recent story in the Halifax weekly The Coast where Andrew Younger, the Liberal MLA for Dartmouth East, uses a crude term to describe the IBM deal.

Younger went on to say the deal with IBM hurts competing IT businesses and that IBM likely will not deliver on job targets in the medium term.

Both Liberal leader Stephen McNeil and PC leader Jamie Baillie said the premier is on the attack to deflect attention away from his record.
