Flooding forces closure of a few roads across Nova Scotia

Several roads across Nova Scotia are closed due to flooding this morning.

All that rain has resulted in flooded-out streets in parts of the province

Several roads across Nova Scotia are closed due to flooding this morning.

The province received a lot of rain last night. Unofficial totals from Saturday to Monday show the following amounts:

  • Yarmouth:69millimetres
  • Greenwood:91.5millimetres
  • Halifax Stanfield International Airport:91.3 millimetres
  • Kentville:116.6 millimetres
  • Debert:91.4 millimetres
  • KejimkujikNationalPark:85.8 millimetres

All that rain has prompted the closure of the following roads:

  • Avonport Station Roadin Avonport is closed until further notice due to flooding. If you need to access this road, please do so via the Avonport Beach Road, or Oak Island Road.
  • Jungle Roadin Oxford Junction is closed due a roadway washout.
  • North Main Street and 1st Street in Trenton in Pictou County is covered with twofeet of water. The roadway is closed.
  • Rines Road off Highway 236inKennetcookis closed due to flooding.
