Woman killed in Highway 102 crash outside Shubenacadie

A woman is dead after a head-on collisionMonday morning on Highway 102 near Shubenacadie, N.S.

In a news release Tuesday, RCMPsaid the woman was driving an SUV heading southbound betweenExit 9 for Milfordand Exit 10 for Shubenacadieshortly before 9 a.m. She thenlost control, crossed the medianand collided with a northbound dump truck.

The woman died at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Police saidRCMP are working with the Nova Scotia medical examiner's office to identify the woman.

The highwaywas closed Mondayto all northbound traffic between Exit 9 and Exit 10until 4 p.m., when one northbound lane opened.

Southbound traffic was also reduced to one lane along the stretch. Both lanes reopened shortly after 6 p.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
