HRM council approves neuter clinic for feral cats

Halifax regional council has approved a $40,000 grant to set up a spay and neuter clinic for low income pet owners and feral cat colonies.

First shelter in Atlantic Canada to have a surgical unit.

Halifax regional council has approved a $40,000 grant to set up a spay and neuter clinic for low income pet owners and feral cat colonies.

The vote was unanimous.

Kristin Williams, executive directorofthe NovaScotia SPCA, says its a great day for the city's cats.

The shelter will run the clinic.Williams said the service should be up and running soon.

Individuals and rescue organizations will apply for spay and neuter bookings.

She said she expects to handle 1,000 subsidized operations a year.
