Temperatures are going to remain cold today, however, Sunday will bring some unsettled weather to the region with a special weather statement issued by Environment Canada.

A brisk northwest flow over the region today and tonight will be accompanied by a few flurries, especially over northern New Brunswick as well as over parts of Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

Due to the onshore flow off of the Bay of Fundy and Gulf of St. Lawrence some areas may get five to 10 centimetres of snow.

The winds will diminish and skies will clear on Saturday as a ridge of high pressure moves in.

A few flurries will persist, however, in some eastern sections of Nova Scotia where the northwest winds continue through much of the day.

On Sunday, a warm front ahead of a well-developed system over the Great Lakes will spread snow across the region. The snow will change to freezing rain and ice pellets, and then finally to rain. Up to 10 to 15 centimetres of snow may precede the changeover to rain.

Strong winds out of the southeast will also accompany this storm.

Temperatures will be near normal today, but return to below normal on Saturday, in spite of the sunshine.
