The union that represents most provincial government employees in Nova Scotia has launched a new campaign.

The Nova Scotia Government andGeneral Employees Union says itwantsto raise awareness of the impact of cuts and privatizationin the province.

Joan Jessome, president of the 30,000-member NSGEU, and other members of her union wore T-shirtsMonday, with the slogan "McNeil's Movers."

The campaign aims to bring awareness to the cuts made by Stephen McNeil's government over the last year.

Jessome said her union finds relations with the province more strained than with any government in the past 17 years.

"There's no consultation. We've seen film jobs go, we've seen just one after the other leave this province and now the parents are leaving. The kids have gone, the parents with the good pension are selling their homes and then leaving," she said.

"We are creating a zero tax base in the way that this government is addressing income inequality. We've got a government that's attacking people with jobs and not creating jobs."

Jessome said communities that have lost government jobs are already suffering.

"They've attacked workers rights, they've pitted the public against the public sector. They've tried looking at privatizing work with good paying jobs that keep these communities alive," she said.

A new television commercial also begins airing Monday.
