South Korea beat Russia 42 on Saturday to win bronze at the 2016 World Sledge Hockey Challenge in Bridgewater, N.S.

The Russian sledge hockey team will go home without a medalafter being beatenby South Korea at the 2016 World Sledge Hockey Challenge in Bridgewater, N.S.

South Korea beat Russia 42 on Saturday to win bronze.

The week-long international tournament has been held at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre, which had a packed parking lot for Saturday's games.

Sledge hockey shares most of the same rules as hockey, except players use their arms to propel themselves on sleds. They also use shorter sticks.

The game was invented by three Swedish wheelchair athletes on a frozen lake in Stockholm in 1961.

The World Sledge Hockey Challenge was created in 2007 by Hockey Canada.

Ottawacontributed $45,000 to assist EventsLunenburg County Society to hostthe event.

Former HalifaxMooseheadsstar Brandon Reid is Team Canada's assistant coach.Canada will play the U.S. at 5 p.m. AT in the gold medal game.
