A provincial court judge in Halifax agreed to a request from Kyley Harris's lawyer to set over a plea until Sept. 10.

Defence lawyer Mike Scott says he has received disclosure from the Crown.

Harris, who was not in court when the matter arose today, was charged after an alleged domestic incident on May 9.

He was the communications director for Premier Stephen McNeil until he was fired on May 20, with McNeil saying the dismissal was necessary because Harris waited four days to tell the government he was facing a charge.

At the time, McNeil said Harris wasn't let go right away because a week-long review was needed to determine whether anyone else inside the government knew about what had happened.
