Kyley Harris formally charged with assault

Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeils former communications director has been formally charged with assault.

Kyley Harris, 35, was fired on Monday. Last week it was revealed that hed been accused of domestic assault, but had waited four days after his arrest to tell the premiers office.

A charge of assault wassworn by police Wednesday.

According to conditions of his release after arrest, Harris is not allowed to consume alcohol or other intoxicating substances. He isforbidden from contacting the alleged victim.

Harris is due in Halifax provincial court on June 18.
