Laura Jessome murder suspect charged with witness intimidation

Cape Breton police laid charges against Morgan James McNeil, 24, after witness at preliminary hearing allegedly threatened.

Allegation stems from incident at June 2 preliminary hearing into murder case

Cape Breton police have charged a suspectin the murder of LauraJessome with intimidating a witness in the case.

Morgan James McNeil, 24, is charged with threats againstRobert Bennett,intimidation of a witness and breaching a court order in connection with an incident atSydney provincial court on June 2.

Heand co-accusedThomas Ted Barrett, 40, were in court June 2for a preliminary hearing on a charge of second degree murder in the death of the youngBras d'Or woman whose body was foundin a hockey bag floatingin the Mira River in May 2012.

The pair have elected to be tried by judge and jury and will be back in court in July to set atrial date.

McNeilis currently in federal prison on robbery-related offences.
