The pair accused of plotting mass murder at the Halifax Shopping Centre are now scheduled to go to trial in the spring of 2017.

Lindsay Souvannarath and Randall Shepherd made a brief appearance in Nova Scotia Supreme Court this morning.

The pair are charged with conspiracy to commit arson, conspiracy to commit murder, uttering threats and other charges.

They were arrested Feb. 13, 2015, just hours before they were to allegedly carry out an attack on a mall full of shoppers. They have been in custody ever since.

Tentative trial dates were set with a judge and jury trial scheduled to begin May 15 of next year.

Souvannarath's lawyer, Luke Craggs noted that is a long way off and lawyers are trying to find earlier dates.

The case will return to court next month.
